Face down time was only 2 days, but I did 4 just to be "safe". They said I
had 3 detachments and a fold (not sure what that means) and other things
and that it must have been happening for months.

I Just have to sleep on the opposite side for at least 30 days, maybe
more. Not fun but lets say it wouldn't have been as bad if I had been
stronger in insisting the changes I saw in my eye need attention.

So, my advice.. never ignore any changes in your vision.

You got that right.

Over the years, I've been in with not one but two separate bouts of vitreous shrinkage/liquefaction (thankfully *only* that), and I've had a few benign floaters (in my case, most or all are filaments of coagulated protein) for most of my life, but now I routinely have both eyes thoroughly inspected whenever I go in for a new eyeglass prescription.

And I'm so sensitive to any kind of "eye-scream" (as TVTropes calls it) that I'd have to be "knocked out into next week" to tolerate anything actually penetrating my eyeballs. (And I'm the guy who asks to be kept conscious and lucid for colonoscopies, so I can enjoy the guided tour!)

**** GETTING BACK ON-TOPIC ****

With regard to high volume and slow response time when POSTing to a web service, I've had a fair amount of experience with that myself. And I have had to resign myself, on the one situation where that's necessary, to having the service time out without giving me any feedback, and having to use other means to determine whether the call was successful.
