Rob,
Sorry, I thought the discussion was about the 41G. I have the same model
as Gordon (9009-41G). However, IBM is giving conflicting information to
some of the Business Partners (telling mine that the 41G was included in
the EOSS)

Greg,
I thing Jim was replying to a gent about a different Power 9. Some of the
G models are not going EOS quite yet.
There was a different announcement about EOS and Power 9 earlier. It was
rather hidden in a pdf file on a link. ITJungle pays tribute to it. Sept
12, 2024 was this announcement
https://public.dhe.ibm.com/systems/support/planning/notices/September.12.2024.Announcement.Power9.pdf
However IT Jungle paid no mention at the time. I uncovered it in a
discussion, and asked the author for the link, at

So the end of "normal" support is nearly a year out. And that is just
the hardware assuming a supported version of IBM i.

an extended agreement. In the past IBM has maintained support for
the current model and one back, with a year's notice.
I've not read any of the announcements but a careful read of them is
likely in order. Cutting off P9 hardware support without ample
warning is not IBMs way.

I am hearing similar from my IBM BP. Most likely IBM will announce
the EOS for the 42G when the Power11 becomes available. I agree

Well it's kind of stupid to force people to upgrade to a power10
when the
power11 is right around the corner...
I am NOT buying a power10 just to have it EOS in a couple years.

IBM iNext will not run on a Power 9. I know that I advocate going
to new releases quickly and some of you are slower. But you may
change your mind on slow adoption. If IBM sticks to their usual
pattern we'll all find out in 2-3 months.

We are going to upgrade to the Power11 hopefully in 2026 (if it is
available) - just not in January.

Thanks Rob this is helpful.
We have a S914 9009-41G and a S924 9009-42G. When I go to the
link it has
S914 9009-41A and S924 9009-42A with EOSS 01-31-2026. When I
click on the IBM Product Lifecycle page and search for 9009, I see
the 41A and 42A with the January 2026 date, however the 41G and

Is it reasonable to conclude that IBM doesn't have an EOSS date<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.ibm.com/docs/en/announcement
for them and it potentially may be later the January 2026? The
41G and 42G were GA over 2 years after the 41A & 42A.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
