Initial Microcode Program Load.

I’m not sure that term is used much anymore, I usually just refer to LIC (Licensed Internal Code) load.

IMPL started from 8” diskette in the old S/38 days.

MTI are Maintained Temporary Indexes.

Same as most other indexes but the system creates and manages them for its own DB performance. It’s a good idea to review them and sometimes consider making them permanent. Not all are candidates for permanent indexes but you might find a few that should be.
