I may have asked this before, but have any of you done a shared central install of ACS before ?

I did not do it but you might find some information here https://developer.ibm.com/articles/i-ibmi-access-client-solutions-customization-trs/#option-3-remote10 and here https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-access-acs-getting-started#9.3

Also without installing Java JRE locally ?

If iACS finds a java installation in a subdirectory of the directory of acslaunch program that you use, it will use this java. No need for any installation. At least for Windows.

Here is how I set it. I just downloaded the JRE, unpacked it, copied in the subdirectory.

PowerShell 7.5.0
PS C:\Users\Marco> cd C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64
PS C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64> dir

    Directory: C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64

Mode                 LastWriteTime         Length Name
----                 -------------         ------ ----
d----          25/11/2024    16:49 jdk-23.0.1+11-jre
-a---          25/11/2024    16:39        1555792 acslaunch_win-64.exe
-a---          25/11/2024    16:39        2948944 acsnative.dll
-a---          25/11/2024    16:39         146256 acspcoc.exe

PS C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64> dir .\jdk-23.0.1+11-jre\

    Directory: C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64\jdk-23.0.1+11-jre

Mode                 LastWriteTime         Length Name
----                 -------------         ------ ----
d----          25/11/2024    16:49                bin
d----          25/11/2024    16:49                conf
d----          25/11/2024    16:49                legal
d----          25/11/2024    16:49                lib
-a---          25/11/2024    16:49           1730 release

PS C:\Users\Marco\IBM\ClientSolutions\Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64>

I have ideas on how I would do this, but if someone else has paved the way your thoughts would be appreciated.
