You can actually run queries against the plan cache data..

First dump it,
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.4?topic=services-dump-plan-cache-procedure

Then take a look in the tables..
The file has the same definition as the QSYS/QAQQDBMN file. See Database
monitor SQL table format
<https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ssw_ibm_i_74/rzajq/phfdds.htm> for more
information.

- *Database monitor view 3001 - Index Used
<https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ssw_ibm_i_74/rzajq/t3001.htm>*
Displays the SQL logical view format for database monitor QQQ3001

thanks Charles... so aside from a hunt and peck through the plan cace, I
really am not thinking there is much of a way to see exactly what
"processes/apps" these are used in.

thanks

ACS will show you

Select the table in the schema's tool and then right click, related
objects-->indexes

Or go right to the index in question via "Indexes" in the schema tool.

So I need to decommission an index from a table if possible.. but
before
I
do, I'd like to know what applications/queries (if any) rely on it?

So before I go look at all the table dependencies and consider which
applications may use the index...

Is there a better way?

thanks
