thanks John, I'm kind of right there with you... No I did not test
"keyboard-interactive" in the PerferrredAuthentications keyword simply due
to the fact that this process will never allow a user to interactively run
the sftp script. that is my theory at least... but guess I could try it
and see what would happen.

Did you try having both methods listed in your PreferredAuthentications
keyword?

I suspect that will be enough, but if the SFTP client you're currently
using somehow doesn't support it, I am sure there is *something* that
will work among the tools available for PASE.
