Hi Rob

The matter of how much IBM has to support a product might be just one factor in the decision to drop marketing and support. Another is based on security - see my post I sent just before this.

Cheers
Vern

Vern,
when was the last time you heard of a support ticket for CICS
About as often as I've heard about a support ticket for DB2 Multisystem.
Since I use neither, never.

But IBM is dropping a shiPload of stuff when it comes to rNext. Stuff like
bisync, PPP, Opticonnect, routeD. Who knows if CICS uses any of this.

Hi Patrik

Yes, there was - I replied to this as I think to say it "...is going
away..." is too strong. I've been in conversations with IBM, who agree that
the wording last May or June could be better. So I simply wanted to say we
can still use these products at our own risk if there are problems. One
might ask, when was the last time you heard of a support ticket for CICS -
so these things can be extremely stable.

Vern

The announcement says no more marketing and no more support - the
product will still run on your IBM i, it will not mysteriously disappear
from your system.

You decide if your company can afford to keep using it unsupported.

Wasn't there a similar discussion recently, about SDA & friends?
