so that certainly sounds logical... but I've only applied triggers to the
table before. How do you apply a column trigger?

With the addpftrg there is no specification for which column.

with sql create trigger, there is only an option for table to add trigger
to.

How do you apply your alleged column level trigger?

thanks

You use a column trigger if you want an action to take place when the
column value is changed.
You use a table trigger on a read, update, insert, or delete of a row.

So need to perform some function (pgm), when an db2 table column input
takes place.

At first thought a table trigger (that only processes that column) sounds
fine.

But then maybe a field procedure that sits on the column itself.
I've only used field procedures for encryption and while I think they may
work also fine for like a column level trigger... is that a good idea?
I really don't like the idea of not being able to use sql though.

any other possibilities?
