@jack
Rob is correct in that 31 is 'Domain Name System' and includes the
NSLOOKUP command. If you don't have option 31 installed, you don't have
NSLOOKUP.
However, all I can find about option 31 is regarding extended support for
obsolete OS versions 7.3 and previous. It states that option 31 will "have
only usage and known defect support."
@Rob: can you direct me to where you've seen support for option 31 being
dropped?
Thanks,
Michael Quigley

Not dropping NSLOOKUP ... the DNS server is to make your IBM i be a DNS
server which it seems nobody does anymore.
Not having a DNS server does not stop DNS exploratory utilities from
working. For instance, nslookup just goes to whatever you've configured
be the dns server you do lookups against, usually some VM in the dataDoes this
center, or 8.8.8.8 for Google.

Right now you only have the NSLOOKUP command if you have option 31, dns
server, loaded. IBM is dropping support for option 31 dns server.
--mean they'll unbundle support for DNS CLIENT tools like nslookup from
option 31 and either include them as part of base or TC1?
