As far as going to the cloud goes, there are a number of people going back
to their own servers based on cloud costs. At least according to what my
boss is saying. I'm sure the cloud providers would argue that they would
offload stuff like OS upgrades, PTF's, etc. It's your business decision to
make.
As far as waiting for Power 11, I think it's a pretty safe bet it's not
going to arrive prior to your system falling out of maintenance. I am
unable to locate a current Power Processor Technology Roadmap. On the plus
side, IBM tends to announce the scale out (smaller) systems first on odd
number processors (like Power 9) and enterprise level servers first on even
number processors (like Power 10). Power 10 was announced September 2021
