Would SRTSEQ(*LANGIDSHR) mitigate that issue or is that just for case?

My CCSID 37 database has no issues with Latin-1 accents.

Sorting and filtering might be an issue with your user community.
For example, É (EBCDIC x'74') sorts before A (EBCDIC x'C1').
