The sequence number is...informational for us programmers.
It's not at all related to the number of records in the source member.
You can safely ignore the sequence number, and use DSPFD, WRKMBRPDM, SYSPARTITIONSTAT, etc. for the exact count of source lines.

If you'd like to understand a little bit more about these sequence numbers, DSPFFD QRPGLESRC. You'll find there are three columns: SRCSEQ, SRCDAT, and SRCDTA.
