If just a RLSSPLF doesn't work, do a HLDSPLF and then RLSSPLF.

subject: RE: How can release a SAVed spoolfile programmatically?

Hi Tom,
Sorry for not doing my homework but is there any reason you cannot use the RLSSPLF command in a call to qcmdexc?
According to the help text for the command, it seems to be possible to release a spoolfile in *save status.

Best regards

Stefan
