I'd like to establish a secured Telnet connection from one Midrange box to another.

I see that there are now "PORT" and "SSL" parameters. I tried PORT(992) and SSL(*YES), and I got back:

Message . . . . :   Key database file was not found. Cause . . . . . :   A key database file name was either not specified or the   key database file name was not found.                                      Recovery  . . . : Provide a null terminated character string which contains
the fully qualified Integrated File System (IFS) file name identifying the   key database file.

(1) What's a "key database file"?
(2) I don't see that as a parameter on the TELNET command. Provide the null terminated character string *where*?

I guess that the Certificate Authority used in the telnet server certificate must be known by the client. Try to export it (including all certificates from the chain) from the server and add it (them) to the system certificate store on the client. I understand that you will have to create it.
