I recently played with stopping and starting RAID. I had a Power 9
9009-42A with all SSD's that we were getting ready to power off (we had
migrated to a Power 10). Stopping RAID is not a big deal. Starting RAID
does take "some minutes". Probably more in the next unit of measure. It
was over the weekend and I was easily disrupted so I didn't stopwatch it.

If the RAID set is gone, you need to rebuild it, and I think you do need
DST. Either way I would not allow any production until that’s done, plus
it would be faster in DST than SST since the OS won’t be started. Get
ready for it to take “some minutes” as Larry likes to say.

Looks like we have to replace a raid/cache card in our 740 because when
the battery was replaced the cache didn't start.

Anyone familiar with the process.

Tech support is telling us we need to IPL manual D side and go into DST
to rebuild the raid set.

True?

Thx,

Jerry
