Brad, I’ve used these in the past with decent success:

No guarantee of anything since I haven’t had to use these in a while
but thought I’d throw them out here.

Well, it turns out my HWMA does expire today which is why I can't get a new
key.

Of course, like every other year, I was never notified or sent an invoice.
And of course, trying to contact someone to give them money is virtually
impossible as any contact I had from the past year no longer works there.

Brad,

Thanks for that item and for Jim weighing in with the HWMA vs Firmware
note. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the developer discount program, it
allows me to continue to economically develop open source solutions on
the platform even though it isn't my primary platform anymore. But the
difficulty in maintaining the SWMA (I need to let IBM know that it's
time to renew my SWMA....what?) and the lack of an easy UAK renewal so I
can continue to apply firmware updates which allows me to apply software
updates makes it a bit of a challenge to stay in the program.

I am with you Jim. Making it easier for developers and customers to get
access to the platform and maintain it would be a plus. IBM i is such a
great platform...warts and all...

Yes, I am all up to date on HWMA. I actually just got my note that it's
due in a month or so because in the past I've had to track someone down
to
pay it instead of waiting for them to contact me (which they normally
don't... love those late fees I guess!)

I did talk with IBM and they said you need to go into ESS first and renew
the key, Then use Go SERVICE option 20 and it should grab the new key.

I just did the ESS renewal and for some reason the expiration date is
still
today.. I don't know if I have to wait until it expires to actually renew
it or now (ie, it expires today, so maybe wait until tomorrow to renew?)

Seems like a lot of pointless busy work. 😄
