I would use a identity - but sequence can be made the same way:

It is the " overriding user value" that does the trick here:

create table new_cust like qiws.qcustcdt;
alter table new_cust add column id int not null generated always as
identity;

insert into new_cust overriding user value (
select a.*, 0
from qiws.qcustcdt a

);

You mean something like this?
create table rob.t0328 as (
select int(0) as myseqcol, s.*
from erplxf.rco s)
with no data;

create sequence rob.t0328;

insert into rob.t0328 (
select next value for rob.t0328, s.*
from erplxf.rco s);
select * from rob.t0328;

I am creating a result table (from a select statement).
then I add (insert into) records daily.

I wish to have a sequence column (use a sequence object?) added to this
table,
but can't find examples to pull this off. can someone help.
