Roger, you may be right. There you need to save the subsystem description object and restore it. UNLESS you modified an IBM subsystem description. Now you need to manually add all the routing, job queue entries, pre start jobs, etc. You could delete the one on the target and restore it, but I highly doubt that would work quite the way you want it to, particularly if it was done with an OS upgrade.

A significantly better approach is to create your own subsystems (please do not use Q in first position of the name) and when that subsystem description is restored it will not be changed.

If you do modify IBM supplied ones, then it’s best to keep a control language source member that has all your modifications in it, simply compile it and run it.

Same goes for changing IBM supplied spool files. Keep a record of the change in the source, run the program and and bang, you modifications are back.

Same with changes to command defaults….. One source member with all your system set up commands.

I could be mistaken, but it sounded to me that he was asking about the subsystem description jobq entries - not the actual jobs.
Note the reference to having to run ADDJOBQE multiple times...

Correct. You cannot move JOBS from one system to another. Spooled files
come across but no longer attached to jobs.

I believe there was a TAA Tool that would suck all the jobs from a queue
into a file, then you ran the tool 'in reverse' on the new system to
re-submit them.

There may be an SQL to do that today. :-)

I don’t know of a way to save the job queue entries, spool files sure, but I think if you dig into IBM documentation you’ll find that job queue entries are not saved anywhere. You would have to resubmit the job.

This sounds like some sort of hybrid migration where you already had a
system running and you just wanted to restore a few select objects. Always
a hard prospect to the uninitiated.

I think you either have to run the addjobqe to the subsystem, or,
end the subsystem
restore the *SBSD from the other system

Hi all

I'm migrating to a new IBM i .. in the old IBM i, i had created some jobq
(in QGPL) and associated to a subsystem; now restoring QGPL , i have
restored also JOBQ, but not the "link" JOBQ and SBS. Question : is there
anyway to save and restore the JOBQE content ? i have to run ADDJOBQE
manually for every JOBQ that i have created ?

Thanks in advance
