The problem is that with SNDSMTPEMM you don't get to specify a messageID Header. The system is supposed to generate one, and doesn't. Hence the PTFs.

The very odd part is that even without this PTF, some systems don't see the error. Seems (no proof) that if you're still routing through MSF then the problem doesn't occur.

Interesting! This at least shades some light onto that "does not work" issue.

But if sending directly through SMTP (clearly preferred) then it fails.

Even if that "direct send" provides a (proper) message-id header?

MSF seems to behave correctly that when no message-id is supplied, it adds one.
