Are ETHLINE and ETHLINE1 on the same network, IE: both 192.168.10.x and the
the same subnet? Or are they different networks?

Is this new interface going to a specific host?

Look up schowler routes. It might require a host route. What are you
trying to do?

Load balancing, fail over, or directing a specific address to a specific
host?

I am sure I have done this before but ...

The IBMi has a 4 port network card with resources CMN03, CMN04, CMN05,
CMN06
System is V7R3

CMN03 is for the console connection (No HMC)
CMN04 is the current lan conection (ETHLINE)

CMN06 I have created a new Ethernet line using this (ETHLIN01)
I have configured an IP address and varied the line on and started the IP
interface
All good

There is a default route using the gateway that is for CMN04 ETHLINE but
this does not have a preferred interface set and I can't take it down at
the moment to test changing that.

I want a default route for this new interface subnet I have created but
from my reading the IBMi has routes at a system level not an interface
level.

I thought I could have multiple *DFTROUTE for different interfaces but it
is not allowing that or I am doing something else wrong.

Has anyone set up a similar requirement where two different networks are
accessing the IBMi on tow different interfaces and a default route is
required for each interface ?

Thank you for any suggestions

Don
