The limits on the S/38 and beyond were mostly two-fold Jim. One was the maximum number of source lines SEU could handle (never increased and never will be with luck). The second was usually the literal tables (that name may be wrong). The changes to the ILE compilers basically removed all practical limits but if you try really, really hard ...

Heh, I think SSA had that problem when they tried to use the AS/SET

reverse engineering tool to convert RPG to AS/SET on some of the

xxx500 programs.



I heard that they had to split it into something like 5 programs in

order for it to work.



In s nutshel: They took large RPG programs, converted them to AS/SET,

which generated RPG ... and broke the compiler.
