Yeah, Aldon worked in a similar manner...

You could specify pre/post install programs. Also IIRC there was a way to
specify a custom conversion program.

How do the various change management systems handle the promotion of a

physical file where a field is being changed from packed numeric to

alpha?

My customer is using PTC Implementer, and it works up to the point

where

it is trying to copy the data from the existing file (with numeric

field) to the new file (with alpha field), then fails

Is this just a situation where manual intervention is required?
