The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

We are doing proof of concept testing using BRMS and LaserVault ViTL and Rubrik. This seems to be viable backup solution, but we've run into a couple challenges and would like to know if anyone else has been successful in an environment similar to what we're doing. Here's our basic configuration:
* BRMS backup control groups on servers that must share one tape library and a pool of virtual volumes
* Backups that run concurrently in console mode using the shared tape library
The challenge with this scenario lies in managing the Rubrik "open/close" commands that must bracket the saves. In a single save this is simple - you issue the open at the start of the backup and a close when it completes. When running multiple concurrent backups using the same tape library(one Rubrik volume), the close command cannot be issued until the last save using the shared tape library has completed. These backups are fully automated and run unattended.
We're considering issuing a close once a day at a specific time when all backups are complete - however we've been told that leaving the Rubrik volume open may cause it to reset and lose anything backed up since the last close was issued.
Has anyone run into this in their environment? If so, how do you manage the open/close when doing concurrent backups?
