Birgitta Hauser has done presentations on just this technique. We have used it - XMLTABLE can be used around the return from a web service - Jon mentioned other articles. I'm assuming that a SOAP request will return an XML file.

I need to consume a service to get inventory balances. The service is SOAP

to use SOAP for now.

P.S. I should point out that the article I referenced is using the old
version of the SQL HTTP services. For more up-to-date versions see IBM's
web pages as well as many examples from Simon on

This is a first for me and I need some help on where to start.
I have the details on the web service but I have not found a document
explaining what must be done to make SQL consume the service.
I have an example of the web service.
Do I need to predefine the fields in the web service or can I simply use
the * to return all values?

TIA, Darryl Freinkel.
