Re: Difference between AS/400 and any normal web server

The architecture and performance characteristics of native web applications
may be quite a bit different than other platforms. For example, on a 4-core
server you might see pools of about 40 PHP processes or 40 Tomcat threads
configured, which might drive the CPU to near capacity. However on an IBM i
server running native web interfaces you might see 25K active jobs
supporting say 10K active users on a 4-core server. IBM i manages the
workload more efficiently than mainstream web application environments.
