I just saw the manual on SQL messages and codes. No, a column or global
variable not found is vendor code -206. Code -204 means:
SQLSTATE 42704 An undefined object or constraint name was detected .
So this either means that there is a missing SQL function or another needed
object in some service program on that particular partition or box.
Better see your job log and tell what you find related to the above.

SQL vendor code -204 is "Column XXXX not found" I think or remember.
See your job log and confirm. There may be a subtle mistake there.

Okay, the REGEXP_REPLACE question was interesting and I played with that
but that led to a WEIRD QUESTION:

I have two LPARs, A & B.
On A, the query works.
On B, it yields
SQL State: 42704
Vendor Code: -204
Message: [SQL0204] QQQSVREG in QSYS type *SRVPGM not found. Cause . . . .
.
: QQQSVREG in QSYS type *SRVPGM was not found.

The service program on the QSYS/QQQSVREG and its authorities are
apparently
identical on both 7.3 systems.

Our system is running IBM i 7.3 with the latest PTF's and TR's (PTF's

Jerry Ven recently asked questions about extracting the numeric values
from a character field to use as a key for joining the file to another
file which has a numeric key.

I believe that someone had suggested using the SQL REGEXP_REPLACE scalar
function.
