I have an RPG program that uses a cursor on a PF.
Now, a second data member has been added to the file. Can I trust OVRDBF
for my cursor to work on the correct data member? Is there a better way?

Yes, there is a better way: Don't use members (it's a missunderstood mainframe concept). simply create another table.
