Right. If you simply type the start of a command and an asterisk, IBM i will give you a list of all commands that start with the letters before the asterisk. (This works at any command line.) It doesn't have anything to do with previously executed commands.

Although, I've not found things to work exactly like the OP. Perhaps enhanced functionality is part of 7.4 or 7.5? (We're still on 7.3.)

F9 is to bring up your command history to get to previously executed

Don't need to press F9. Just write the first letters of the command, followed
by an asterisk (e.g. WRKA*) and press Enter. It works with PDM.

Similar to Rob, FWDHUBSVR in CHGSMTPA is set to
'______.mail.protection.outlook.com'. (The _____ is specific to our email
domain and MX record.) I'm not sure exactly what scanning is done, but our
network admins have led me to believe it's being done.

All of our email goes through a Cisco service which scans for virus, etc.
So we have one of their services listed as our forwarding mail hub
server in CHGSMTPA.
Then it goes out through cisco service into O365.
Works fine.

We just switched to Office 365. Our IBM i sends email all the time
using SMTP with the right connectors. I'm working towards relaying the
email via TLS, but I haven't had time to finish the setup yet.

Here are some docs you can start with:

No. They probably changed it because it's difficult and they don't
want to tackle it.

This is a big issue. We have at least 3 applications on our IBM i
that has the ability to send email messages, but only via SMTP. And
we're a very small shop.
We use O365 as of last year... By default, no new O365 accounts (as
of a year
ago) allow SMTP - it's a security risk. We had to configure one
email address so that it has the ability to authenticate in a different
manner.

Don't need to press F9. Just write the first letters of the command,
followed by an asterisk (e.g. WRKA*) and press Enter. It works with PDM.
