Hello James,

I forget: has anybody ported Zork to AS/400?

Not that I'm aware about it. I'm sure the C source from the bsdgames archive can be relatively easily ported to even older OS/400 releases' PASE.

More interesting to me would be to do a "proper" port with no "dumb scrolling to stdout" but utilizing display files and use either a command line, or dynamically changing function key assignments for fast access to commands.

I think, to do this, one needs to have actually played the game. This would make it more easy to understand the format of the "glorkz" file (output text and some numbers, maybe how rooms are connected to each other), and also understand the overall code structure of the game. The glorkz file looks like a good candidate to be put into a PF. :-)

Unfortunately, a day has 24 hours and there's only so many things you can do in a given time frame.

:wq! PoC
