When I was straight out of CSU Long Beach, one of the temporary jobs I had was repairing classroom computers (mostly Apple //c, but some others). An OMR apprentice was doing her rotation in the computer shop, and working on a monochrome CRT monitor. And she brushed up against the 12KV "well." Thankfully, she survived, and didn't have to leave by ambulance, but the expression on her face was priceless. Later, I was working on a Commodore PET, while it was plugged in, and brushed up against 120VAC. It left me with some sore muscles.

And more recently, at Touchtone, I changed out a blown fuse in an old 3180 terminal. When I tried to power it back up, the fuse didn't just blow, it *exploded.* That terminal was promptly retired.
