The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

I guess my main concern is updates. I'll be honest, I rarely look at PTF cover letters. I put on the cume's, groups, and 'recommended' ptf's and let it go at that. Now, Websphere, has always been a little different and you had to do manual actions to actually activate the upgrade. In addition to Websphere now I'm going to start seeing that everywhere. Now I'm going to have to start loading and/or updating open source parts outside of PTF's.
We were spoiled with IBM i. We didn't have to look for drivers, or patches for individual cards and other pieces of equipment. Just put on the latest PTF's and maybe IPL and you were good to go. With the advent of VIOS, etc now not only do you have to put on the latest vios but you also have to check for drivers and patches for the cards outside of just the upgrade.
Using Open Source within this OS just adds to this.
