You shouldn't really need anything special to connect to the remote web service unless you're trying to make it a VPN-style connection or there are special authentication requirements.

This is dealing with the AS/400 consuming web service calls
I have just found out that there may be something called Microsoft Hybrid Connection Management that in THEORY is the answer
I am now trying to create a conference call with the necessary people to discuss this with everyone concerned, but the earliest time is this Friday @ noon
