Hello Rob,

What's the end game here? Are you trying to do a save, replace the load source, and restore the system?

Yes, and no. My primary goal is to reinstall the OS and PTFs from unspoiled copies, to have the OS reset to a known clean state.

Known unknowns are:
- Which installation options of a D-Type IPL should I omit to *not* run into a "please insert FULIC tape" situation?
- Does a Save 21 generate an IPLable tape with FULIC present? Example case: I need to replace the load source, because it became defective? I have heard that the P0x weren't sold with any install media, but then, a broken disk would essentially brick the machine?

I did create an image from the sole disk (one ASP, one disk) on Linux, via the SCSI-Generic API, so in theory I have a disaster backup. Writing back to another IBM blessed 6606 disk did not yet succeed: There are probably more SCSI parameters to be set. Did not yet take the time to look at this in detail.

Finding a way to copy the FULIC part from disk to tape so it's a "good" FULIC tape for a scratch install on a new disk would be most helpful, also for other hobbyists facing similar issues. Or worse, already have nice black doorstoppers to revive.

:wq! PoC
