You can also use
CL: <command and parms>
to execute commands from within source members or stream files containing SQL statements that you use with RUNSQLSTM.

If you are using ACS you can just do this:
CL: <command and parms> ;
I often take a list of things in excel, add a column that builds my CL: statements, copy/paste them to ACS and run them all with CTRL-R
Works great when my vendor doesn't properly set authority for new objects and I fix them all with a quick bunch of commands.
Here are two examples from a previous year (these were in two columns and build from a list of libraries and objects. I removed the real names.
cl: chgobjown obj(library/object) objtype(*pgm) newown(vendor object owner) ;
cl: chgpgm pgm(library/object) usrprf(*owner) useadpaut(*yes) ;

There's a version in QSYS2 for that
call qsys2.qcmdexc('........');

Subject: Running OS commands from SQL
Brain Fart!
I'm drawing a blank and I can't find my old examples since I changed jobs.
In SQL you can execute commands by specifying CALL QCMDEXEC( '<command to run>' , <length of command string>)
But there is another way to do it which doesn't require the length parameter.
What is it?

Steve
