Just trying to spread FUD. I have no inside information on this.

According to
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/java-se-support-roadmap.html
Java 7 went out of premier support July 2019. IBM i 7.4 came out 06/21/2019 with no support for Java 7.
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/release-life-cycle

IBM i has support for Java 11 which is one of Oracle's LTS releases (Long Term Support).
Java 8 goes out of Oracle's premier support March 2022.
IBM is targeting new releases of IBM i every 3 years. Since 7.4 came out spring of 2019 that would roughly translate to spring of 2022 for rNext.

So, what are the odds that rNext will have no support for Java 8?

There are no recent updates at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/1117869 like: "IBM i 7.4 is the last release to support this option."
There are no updates like that at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/upgrade-planning-future-software-releases . But, honestly, it's been a long time since that site has put out any true "future" announcements. I'm pretty sure that site didn't have that "IBM i 7.3 will be the last release to support Java 7.0 and 7.1." until after 7.4 was already announced.
