Was this the first time they loaded up dns in the backup center? If so, that was foolish.
They should have been redundant servers in both DC's. So that they would both appear in

All three of these are in different cities: Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Garrett. Garrett is not really a "data center". But it does have a small wiring closet.
I did have to kick and scream a little to get a DNS server in one of those DC's. The network guy just wanted to rely upon a remote one.
