I only have java 6 on my machine. So you are saying I need to install Java 7 to get into the admin server?
Installing Java 7 will solve my issue?

Thanks

The admin servers run in integrated application server, which is based on IBM Liberty. At one point in time, IBM Liberty ceased to support Java 6.
Thus, the need for Java 7.

In 7.1, you should be OK with Java 7 even if you upgrade to newer release.

IN 7.2 and above, the newest releases of IBM Liberty require Java 8.
However, if you have application servers running Java 7, you should still be OK, but you will not get the latest version of the application server (thus you do not pick up any security fixes, performance improvements,
etc.)

Thanks

In the console log it says - Unable to create java virtual
machine Require java 7 or higher.

So I need to install java 7 to run the admin server. Why would that
be the case when I ran it fine 2 years ago.

Thanks again
Dean

If you do a

strtcpsvr *ias instance(admin4)

do you get any errors?

If fails to start, do you see anything in:

/qibm/userdata/os/ADMININST/admin4/wlp/usr/servers/admin4/logs/console.log

or

/qibm/userdata/os/ADMININST/admin4/wlp/usr/servers/admin4/logs/messages.log
