If you use NAMEFMT 1
You can do this and it will create the save file as a save file on the remote machine
ftp anotherlpar
namefmt 1
bin
put /qsys.lib/mylib.lib/mysavf.savf /qsys.lib/mylib.lib/mysavf.savf
quote rcmd rstobj...
quit

A problem you may be running into is differing release levels.
I don't think save files have different columns based on release but I may be wrong. TGTRLS is not an option on CRTSAVF. It is an option on SAVOBJ but by then the save file is already created. Remember TGTRLS only supports x-2. If you created a save file on 2.1 you should be able to restore it to 7.4. However if you create a save file on 7.4, and saved stuff into it, you will only be able to restore it to 7.2 and above.
