You stated the password do not match any longer. Make your user ID and password match between the iSeries and Domain and see if that makes the performance better. When they don't match, there is a whole lot of security handshaking going on.,

Subject: RE: Performance issues with File shares

What has changed?
1. We've reinstalled everything on the PCs... OS, software, etc.
2. We added an additional endpoint protection client (we run 2 now instead of 1) 3. SMB1 is disabled (this was previously enabled) 4. User passwords are no longer the same on the IBM i and the Windows Network - previously they were the same

As for "are they scanned on opening"... YES, every file opened by the PC is examined by our endpoint protection software... but files were always scanned on open previously.

The performance on the IBM i shares is ridiculously slow compared to shares on any other servers. Example: It takes 30 seconds to open a <1K text file.

Just looking for ideas...

We recently had to rebuild our network servers and workstations from scratch (New Windows 10 installs, new server installs, etc.).
If you're wondering why... your first guess is correct.

The IBM i was not touched.

Now that things are back to the new normal, accessing files on the Netserver shares is painfully slow. Even small text files. Opening Excel files is ridiculous.
Navigating and traversing the directory structure is fine.

We have added a second endpoint protection software.

I remember many years ago, I had to do something in Windows 7 to speed things up. My access prior to this reinstall was nearly as fast as a Windows network share.

Any ideas?

TIA and have a great (and safe) weekend.
