Hello Jack,

IBM i source is not released, though they should do so :)

Time for an RFE? :-)

But the days of IBM and ISVs authoring every detail of our development and operational environment are over and gone!

New/undesirable situation for some, as I get from a comment.

I'm working with Linux for over two decades now, and I've been glad to have the source more than one time to fix something being an immediate showstopper. And push back that to the author, with more or less success.

The new features we code to meet management directives we are doing in Python and Node.js.

Great, from Java to Node. Exchange one bloated moloch for another. ;-)

I have modified open source myself. I originally ported mc for instance and that ended up in the IBM repo with mods from IBM's team.

Nice! I guess mc will remind some about past PC DOS days. ;-)

:wq! PoC
