You have to remember that the FTP Client needs to either read files / libraries / directories on the iSeries or Write to them. The profile the jobs runs under needs access to the local stuff. The third party log ins are to connect to the remote server and get / put the necessary files. Two sides to the job.

The IBMi FTP client using an IBMi profile? I don't know how that would work. Can you elaborate?
I don't think that would be a problem since all the FTP client uses we do use credentials provided by 3rd parties.
