Delighted to hear that you got it sorted Jack.

The wizard really should have been able to spot that special character problem. Hopefully they will fix that.

Following Jon's instructions we tried several changes and options and it seemed there was a firewall permissions issue. However, our security tech sent me a report that showed I had accessed the port without problems. I opened a ticket with IBM and finally today the API works. The issues were:

1. Special characters are not allowed in the parameter description. I originally defined the input parameter as ACCT#. this caused the IWS server to mis-interpret the input parameter portion (ACCT#) of the URL. Changing the parameter name to ACCTNBR in the RPGLE pgm and on the template variable name in the IWS wizard then brought up the 2nd issue.

2. [5/6/21 15:49:23:189 EDT] 0000004e SystemErr R java.lang.RuntimeException: Host server job initialization failed.
CPFB8E9: ASP group IASPCFI not set for thread X'000000000000022F'

This may be an issue only with IASP installations. Commnad SETASPGRP ASPGRP(IASPCFI) CURLIB(*CURSYSBAS) USRLIBL(*CURUSR) is executed under the covers somewhere and issued error message CPFB8E9. I had created a usrprf just for this test. My personal profile could execute the command without error. Adding the same group profile from my personal usrprf to the test usrprf solved the error - authority. To what object(s) I'm not yet sure.

Many thanks to Jon who worked with me on this offline. He helped me out right away. IBM took a while.

If you like I can get on a screen share with you tomorrow and see if I can see anything. Just email me off list.

Anything else is just guessing I'm afraid.

Jon,

I tried that url also. I followed IBMs examples and your video also. Perhaps I did something wrong or something is not setup correctly.

I had a few issues with the wizard and our IASP but it all finally seemed ok.
