You're right. And that's what I would have found out if I had dug
deeper into that message:
Cause . . . . . : One or more errors were previously detected, for which
diagnostics have already been sent. Recovery . . . : See the previously
listed messages. Correct the errors and then try the command again.
In my case, the previous message was CPF0939 (object not found).
It turns out our admin had just performed an update of some software,
and in the process of doing so, deleted the object in question.
Mystery solved. Thanks for the tip.
