Hi,

Yes that's exactly what I'm trying to do with ansible. Ansible runs on
another machine and it does ssh to HMC and perform it's scripts.

And yes I'm relatively new to this platform. I came across this module
called 'powervm_lpar_instance' which can perform a variety of functions.

I'm trying to create a partition with this module, it needs parameters
system_name and vm_name. I learned that system name is the partition name,
but not sure what vm name means.

Why?

The HMC is not a place where you do development. You might write scripts
to
perform functions such as start a flashcopy etc. but those events are
better
handled with a program running elsewhere and using ssh to log in and enter
the commands, like IBM i for instance.....

Based on your question, you are new to POWER and the HMC, otherwise you
would know that those name value pairs are. Are you trying to correlate
the system_name and vm_name as ansible variables to what those names might
be in HMC command name value pairs?

Hi,

Is there anyone using Ansible with HMC? If yes please let me know what is a
system_name and vm_name in powervm_lpar_instance.
