I think not looking at that indicator is habitual for every 5250 user since
the advent of upper/lower case keyboards and function in 5250......

Particularly since IBM put in long passwords that accept upper/lower
case.......

You are correct. The caps lock indicator is on the screen if you just look.
No one is looking. Me included, I forgot that indicator was on the screen.
New requirement: disable caps lock on the signon screen (LOL just kidding).
No need to put more time in this thought. Thanks to everyone.

I keep thinking about the classic comment about "assume"...

James, does your emulator have the ability to warn users if the caps
lock is on? Something more obvious than the caps lock indicator on the
status bar...

I was reading the list of Enhancements for this new release and see
this one.
"Warn user when logging in if caps lock is on"
I can not find anywhere of how to turn it on or how it works.
I have 1.1.8.7 installed and have tested it and don't see any warning.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
This would eliminate many of our password events.
