You only need the ADDIMGCLE command if you have placed the file in the IFS directory by some other means. This PTF was downloaded from Fix Central using Download Director directly into the Image Catalog.
So, it's status is loaded. I did also use the VRFIMGCLG command on it.

VFYIMGCLG IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG) TYPE(*PTF) SORT(*YES)

But don't you need an Add Image Catalog Entry (ADDIMGCLGE) step in there?

ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(MYCATALOG) FROMFILE('/MYCATALOGDIRECTORY/S6407V01.BIN')

I'm even more confused now.

I have deleted all Image Catalogs and all associated directories from

the IFS.

Using the WRKOPTVOL command, there are none, and there are no virtual

optical devices. Furthermore, no internal or external CD/DVD has

anything in them.

So, I ...

1. create a Virtual Optical Device and vary it on

CRTDEVOPT DEVD(VRTOPT) RSRCNAME(*VRT) ONLINE(*YES)

At this point the WRKOPTVOL shows nothing

2 Create an Image Catalog and it's directory

CRTIMGCLG IMGCLG(ptfcatalog) DIR('/MYCATALOGDIRECTORY') CRTDIR(*YES)

3. Downloaded the PTF SI59204 from Fix Central, using Download

Director, dirctly into the PTFCATALOG Image Catalog

The file in the directory is S6407V01.BIN

4. Veridfied, using the WRKOPTVOL command, shows nothing

5. Loaded the Image Catalog

LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(ptfcatalog) DEV(VRTOPT) OPTION(*LOAD)

6. Used WRKOPTVOL and it shows...

Work with Optical Volumes

System: S107603P

Device . . . . . . . . . . . . . *ALL

Side information . . . . . . . : *ALL

Type options, press Enter.

1=Add 2=Change 3=Copy 4=Remove 5=Display 8=Work with

directories

10=Initialize 11=Work with object links 12=Duplicate ...

Volume Media Authorization

Opt Volume Device Type Type List

C6851330_01 VRTOPT *PRIMARY *CD-ROM QOPTSEC

7. Looked at the S6406.TXT file in the /MYCATALOGDIRECTORY and it

does show a B6851330 reference, but also the SI59204 and a co-req

SI57783 PTF Numbers.

8. Did a Verify Image Catalog command...

VFYIMGCLG IMGCLG(ptfcatalog) TYPE(*PTF) SORT(*YES)

9. the PTF Applied fails. Here's the joblog...

go ptf

Volume C6851330_01 added to optical device.

Volume C6851330_01 added to optical device.

Library QSRV cleared.

No PTFs loaded.

PTF 5770SS1-SI74624 V7R3M0 not applied.

PTF not applied because error occurred.

PTF install processing failed.

So, why does it say it tried to apply a PTF SI74624 ? No reference to

the PTFs it actually contains and that I downloaded.

OK, that's where it is. But I can't seem to make it go away, as it

seems to be an actual CD in a drive. The server is in a remote

location which is not manned today.

I varied off all *OPT devices.

I used option 4 to remove the volume, but as soon as I do a load on my

Image Catalog, it comes back again. I guess the varying did nothing,

and I have to wait til I can get somebody in the server center to pull

the disk.

Thanks for the advice.

Use WRKOPTVOL to check to see if anything else might be mounted.

Vary off all optical except the one your using.

He C684*.. is the volume name of the image. It does not need to

match the name of the file. The error implies that file is mounted

somewhere else already.

Hi,

I don't know what is going on here with a PTF.

I downloaded PTF SI59204 from Fix Central directly to an Image

Catalog on my Power7 server.

I look at the text file S9236.TXT in the IFS directory and it says I

did download that PTF and a Co-Req. PTF.

The bin file is named S9236V01.BIN.

So, then I do the LODIMGCLG and then GO PTF and use option 8.

The PTF fails, and here's the joblog...

V7R3CUME is the Image Catalog and VRTOPT is the Virtual Optical Device.

But where does C6841367_01 come from? The file is S9236V01.

And PTF SI74624 is not the PTF I loaded, nor is it for 5770SS1 (it's

for 5773SC1).

How is this happening?

Here's the Image Catalog...
