Agree with Brad. We tried to use the email addresses. They go on the
network behind all other traffic and there are too many not received to be
used for anything important.

Find a service online that will do it using API/RESTful calls if you want
to make sure it works. You can use something like GETURI (
www.bvstools.com/geturi.html) or Scott's HTTPAPI to make the call to send
the SMS message.

Even if you know what number and carrier, etc, it doesn't always work, and
I've been hearing of some shutting down those types of services.

Now, if it's not an integral part of your system and you don't care if the
messages may not get there, you can fight with the email to sms options.
But if it's a big part, the money to pay for a service to do this is well
worth it.
