Now, if the disk is all internal I would NOT use VIOS to host internal disk. Tried that, scratched the system and started over. Huge performance degradation. I use IBM i to host internal disk to other IBM i, and AIX, lpars.
When we set up our systems VIOS was the only way to go for external disk. Not that we are using that.

Some things may have changed over the years. We are using two redundant VIOS lpars to host Ethernet and Fiber Channel. Maybe IBM i can host both these now? Maybe just one or the other?

Although that last one may need some updates. Since it is a 7.4 reference why is it mentioning Power 6 and blade servers?
