Thanks Bryan, Mark

It is standard SDA Menus we're talking about
with pairs of MNUDDS + MNUCMD source MBrs in QDDSSRC
(There are some old S36 Menus but not many)

So, is there a single central place I can search or do I have to comp all my
relevant Libs' QDDSSRC files and list the content of MNUCMD MBRs?

TIA
Gad

Bryan,

What you state is correct for an old-style DSPF menu created by SDA, for
example.

For UIM *MENUs, I believe everything is coded in the UIM panel source for
the menu, and gets compiled into the *MENU object.

All the best,

if the menu was created as a UIM menu, then when the menu is created a
msgf is also created that contains the options "behind" the menu.
those options are in a source member with "QQ" appended.

Hello sages

We have here a table that lists calls between PGMs (what PGMs call other
PGMs)
This table is refreshed nightly by exporting DSPPGMREF of certain LIBs
to a
file.

However ,
PGM's called from MENUs are (naturally) not listed

Anyone know a way to list such calls?
SQL Services perhaps?

TIA
Gad

Gad,

What kind(s) of "menus" are you talking about?? There are many types.

For example:

??? - menus created by SDA

??? - menus migrated from S/36 SSP that run in S36EE

??? - menus created with DDS source for the DSPF, and using a small
????? corresponding CL "driver" program behind each "menu" screen

??? - UIM menus (created with UIM panel source)

??? - proprietary "menu management" products from various vendors

??? - proprietary built-in application-specific menu systems, typically
????? bundled with and used in many traditional OS/400 ERP packages

For each of the above types of menus, the methods required to determine
what programs (or other menus) are invoked for each menu option differ.

So, you will need to determine what kind(s) of "menus" are in use, and
then, for each unique type, you will need to write a small "analysis"
program to extract the relevant information and add that to your
"cross-reference".

I hope that helps,

The anti-terminal skeptics here appear to be forgetting something:

High-end terminals (i.e., InfoWindow II or knockoff) and well-designed
emulators can do GUI-like constructs, and respond to a mouse. And if the
terminal or emulator has Simple Hotspots enabled, it can respond to a
mouse even if there's no mouse-specific code in the DDS.
