The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

The last time I discussed this with an IBMer, the recommendation was to

They recommend using the sendmsg/recvmsg routines as a replacement.
Uh, exactly how does one use sendmsg/recvmsg to pass a socket from one
job to another? Looking at sendmsg() in the aforementioned 22-year-old
manual, I see that it apparently can pass a descriptor through a socket
(although it doesn't say anything about how), but how does that help me,
given that there isn't a socket connecting the two jobs (the only socket
is the one connecting to the client)?
